In 2012 we started TrailGroove Magazine to provide a unique online media experience for the backpacking, hiking, and outdoor community. Aaron has been hiking and camping for nearly 25 years in locales ranging from the forgotten plains of Texas to the Austrian Alps. Jen has hiked and camped throughout the Midwest since childhood, ventured to all corners of the U.S., and has a special love for the red rocks of the Southwest. Our goal is to represent the backpacking and outdoor lifestyle in a fresh, interesting, and real manner within each and every issue.

    Energy & Environmental Awareness

With such a passion for the outdoors, we're committed to running a magazine in the most ecologically conscious manner that we can. Our magazine is published online instead of using a conventional printing process where paper, ink, and shipping factors are all involved. However, the server this website is hosted on uses energy. We’ve accounted for this energy usage through 2014 – And have purchased carbon offsets that total well over twice the amount of energy that our site will use, hoping to more than neutralize our environmental impact. Additionally, we pledge to donate a significant portion of all profits generated from our magazine towards organizations dedicated to the conservation and protection of our trail systems and the environment. While these are not perfect solutions, we feel it's a step in the right direction and we'll continue to seek out even more ways to improve and reduce our footprint every day.

    Review Policy

The products we review are obtained via normal consumer retail channels. We do not ask for or accept review samples from manufacturers and we do not obtain the products we review under the TrailGroove Magazine name. As such, we're reviewing the same products that you would obtain - Not handpicked review samples. Even though we like free gear as much as the next person, but we won't bend on this rule! As a result of this philosophy, we're also able to experience and comment on the same level of customer service that the typical consumer would receive. Note that this policy doesn't apply to any pre-release products that we're able to obtain prior to market release for review. In such cases, we'll clearly state that the product was obtained from the manufacturer for a sneakpeak, pre-release evaluation in the review.

We use a 5-star rating scale for our reviews:

    Excellent

    Very Good

    Good

    Average

    Poor

    You

TrailGroove Magazine wouldn't exist without you...Remember, this is your magazine! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions we'd love to hear from you - Don't hesitate to contact or email us!
