When it comes to selecting a headlamp, most hikers need something that’s both light and durable, waterproof, and will be both bright enough for the trail yet feature runtimes long enough to make it through multiday backpacking trips. For several years, one popular option that focuses on these needs have been the offerings from ZebraLight, and in particular their headlamps that operate efficiently and simply from a single AA battery – the previous H51 and H52 models, most recently superseded by the newest H53 designation and lineup. In the H53 lineup you’ll find several choices; The H53w features a more neutral tint, and the H53c portrays colors most accurately with more of a yellow cast. There’s even an H53Fc and Fw, which are designed with full flood beam patterns in mind, ideal for close-up illumination at the cost of distance...
