Hi Sarah - what a great story, a real "cliffhanger"! Your pictures are beautiful. Jeez, who doesn't have Hawaii on their bucket list? You had me intrigued and belly laughing, a fun read. I think my favorite line in your story - "Our fellow trail companions didn't respond to the bloody curdling scream I let out. We were truly alone." LMAO, Epic!

Clothing optional.

Ahaha, of course. You get people miles from civilization and they just want to take their clothes off haha.

Glad you got out there! I grew up on Kauai and now live on Oahu. Kauai has some great trails and growing up there I hiked and camped a bunch. We always joked how the humidity seemed to sap the strength out of visitors. Yes, the mud gets really slick! I bet if I swapped places and went to altitude and talus fields, I'd be that guy struggling.

Hey, no need to be far from civilization to go au naturel.

Picture perfect setting up a hammock on Kalalau Beach under the palms and fruit trees. There's an awesome freshwater swimming hole mauka side near the beach too.
