Interesting new version of the Lone Peak from Altra due out this summer utilizing Polartec's Neoshell fabric:

Since I hike in the Lone Peak 1.5, I might have to try this one out. I did try out some low-cut eVent shoes once that I thought might promise waterproofness with at least some noticeable breathability, but they were so heavy and overbuilt I ended up sending them back. With the Altra Neoshell version listed at less than an ounce heavier than the Lone Peak 2.0 it looks like that part of the equation wouldn't be an issue...Would be interesting to see if they can do a decent job of keeping feet dry from the inside and how long they'd take to dry once they do get soaked from a stream crossing, etc...Perhaps a potential shoulder season contender?
