Cool pictures and enjoyed reading the report on your blog. I've been to the Indian Staircase many times but never camped there. Adena Ridge near Adena Arch is a great spot to camp on the other side of the hollow and usually sees a bit less traffic. Easy access from Hwy. 715, short steep climb up to the arch and a nice campsite a short distance further in the woods. Great stargazing from the arch area and nice views up the Gladie Creek drainage.

I thought about that area, but I really wanted a south facing view for the stars. I hiked out that ridge and passed a solo backpacker and then a couple tents still set up (about 10am), so there were people out there as well. Not really surprising given the great weather and a long weekend.
