Limits of the Known by David Roberts is a book filled with a breathtaking series of adventures, touched by a longing for the wilderness of old packed with nostalgia for the time when there were blanks on the map yet to be filled, but one that ultimately may deny some credit for the modern recreational adventurer. David Roberts is a renowned adventure journalist, having spent the last fifty years writing for various outdoor publications, and authoring over two dozen books including Alone on the Wall, which he wrote in collaboration with Alex Honnold. His diagnosis of Stage 4 throat cancer in 2015 stripped away his ability to hike and to climb, and thrust him into a period of deep reflection on the value his past adventures have given his life, whether the notion of adventure can really provide anyone with meaning deeper than the selfish. With such a dense history in the outdoors...
