Perhaps starting one great adventure (the Pacific Crest Trail) gave me the courage to try another type of challenge. I resolved not to judge my own artistic attempts, and began to make drawings and paintings of the natural world. As I continued hiking and painting, my comfort, skill level, and enjoyment of painting improved. My intention in this article is to help you, my fellow hikers, to do the same...
