Looking for ideas for a trip early November. Something maybe 4 nights? Live in central Florida and want something easy to either drive or cheap to fly. Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like something up towards the Smokies would be worth considering to catch some late fall color (perhaps swinging the trip to late October if possible). Article in our latest issue:

...and more in back issues as well:

If you can get cheap flights to Phoenix (or Tucson, but usually fewer direct flights), there are some great trails in early November in Arizona. Superstition Wilderness, Aravaipa Canyon, sections of the Arizona Trail, Chiricahua Mountains (definitely check out Chiricahua National Monument, but no backpacking allowed -- only dayhiking).

I don't have personal experience but flying into Salt Lake City and then heading to southern Utah might be good, although it can get a bit chilly at higher elevations.

Flying into Albuquerque and making the few hours drive to the Gila Wilderness might be a good option to dig into as well, lots of multi-day trip possibilities in the Gila.

And a bit closer to you would be Cumberland Island National Seashore off the Georgia coast. It would be decent weather that time of year and the island is really neat area to backpack on. I've mostly just explored the southern half, but if you had a few days you could really see a lot.
