I’m talking about the days of rosy cheeks and pink noses, of filtered sunlight shining through snow-laden branches. The trail is narrower than usual, a trench created by eager hikers who'd gotten an earlier start than you. You turn your face toward the sky, glittering icy crystals kissing your cheeks. There’s the muffled crunch of footsteps on snow, a muted peacefulness on the trail.
