hello,

planning on doing the Allegheny 100 unsupported backpacking challenge this spring. 100 miles in 50 hours, although i will choose the 75 mi option as this my first year. i have got my pack down to 30 lbs including 3 lbs pack and 6 lbs of water. do you hunk 30 lbs is too much? i did 50 miles of this trail with a 40lbs pack 2 years ago. any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

My friend SuperHiker who was the firs to complete the Alleheny100 carries a minimal pack: a lightweight bivy used as sleeping bag/shelter, a water bottle, energy bars. There are support points along the way in case you get in trouble.
