Good Afternoon Ladies and Gents,

Its good to come to a community as good and as awesome as backpacking is! I recently got into hiking and backpacking again. It all started in Scouts but I joined the Marine Corps, coming up on 4 years ago. I am currently in Nepal living life to the fullest. I wanted to come in here and introduce myself, you can call me Smitty as everyone (including friends) does. I look foward to meeting ya'll (yes I am from South Carolina) and diggin' up some cool information along the way! To all those living life to the fullest....

Keep kickin' ass and takin' names,

Smitty

Welcome to the forum, Smitty. I also got started camping and backpacking thru the BSA (yes, I'm a Scout Mom), and have a son who was in the Marine Corp (thanks for your service:)). There must be some intense hiking in Nepal - I'm sure we'd all like to hear about that!

Smitty,

What memorable hikes have you done while in Nepal? I still remember fondly a month I spent there in fall 2002-Up Kala Pattar, and failed attempt at Island peak (20,230ft).
