Question about hot tenting out West

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to go hot tenting with a buddy in December somewhere out West. We will rent the hot tent and stove to give it a try. Does anyone have an recommended spots to backpack? We will probably have a sled with us.

Most of the National Parks don’t allow fires and the others that do, require it to be in the rings. Any suggestions of public land perhaps?

Thanks so much!

Caleb

The greater Yellowstone area immediately comes to mind. The nearby USFS lands should work. The terrain is more rolling than my neck of the woods of the Rockies for example. Probably important if you want to use a sled. Do not have any immediate suggestions other than that. :)

Please don't make me Google hot tenting. What is it?

Never used one, but I'm thinking a tent with a wood stove for heat and cooking. :D

I've used one a while back, but the one I used wasn't really for backpacking. More for car camping and ATV's/Snowmobiles as they tend to be very heavy.
