I figured I jump in with my most recent "Big" trip. A couple of buddies and I bought single man pontoon boats and did a little rafting down the Gunnison River. We started in Delta,CO and came out in Whitewater. Total trip was about 40 miles. We camped in 2 different locations along the way. The first stop was neat the Escalante Bridge. It was pretty uneventful except for some tequila and laughs. We stared kind of late that day due to driving from Castle Rock in the rain in the morning. The next two days were awesome. We rafted to Escalante Canyon where we set up camp. We hit some decent rapids along the way and made a few stops just to kind of do a little hiking to see what we could see. Once camp was made, we cooked up some chow and again hit the tequila. We were camped about 200 yards from the river but all three of us ended up sleeping on the river bank till around 4 A.M. The next morning after eating, we hiked into Escalante Canyon. There are plenty of water falls, creeks and streams. The highlight for me was the Anasazi ruins and petroglyphs. In total, we probably hiked about 15 miles. There was a ton of wildlife including Big horn sheep, Deer, Elk and a sh@t ton of reptiles. We stayed at this location for 2 nights. The last day was a 15 mile trek to Whitewater. Realizing the trip was almost over was a bit depressing to say the least. We plan to do a 100 mile float from Colorado to Utah next year and finish in Arches National Park for a couple of days.

Nice. I went to Dominguez Canyon, on foot, a couple of years ago. Great place!
