Another option if you want to be farther north. A loop off the Boulder River road to the Lake Plateau in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness south of Big Timber, MT. Several loop options off the Box Canyon and Upside Down Creek trail heads which are only 1.5 miles apart so you can retrieve the vehicle without a shuttle. The shortest loop is about 25 miles and usually a 3 day trip but once out on the plateau by Wounded Man Lake and Lake Pinchot, you could spend most of a week making day hikes to all sorts of lakes. FS trail numbers 26, 27, 28, 43, 44, 90, 91, 97, 128, and 211 are all in this area.
