The compact size of the bear cannister is perfect for a solo overnighter.  I generally carry the Bearicade Weekender for the small group I hike with, and it just about fills half my pack!  Thanks for a chance to win!

These look useful even when you are not in bear country. I can see thwarting the local raccoons with this.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the BV450 as the prize in your giveaway as I've been contemplating purchasing one for my solo trips. I've owned a BV500 for about 8 years and love it! $50 at REI is ALWAYS welcomed! I'm crossing my fingers.................

Even though we have black bears here in Southern Ontario, they're infrequent and hunted and don't generally associate hikers with food.  I do practice safe hanging a la PCT.  I'm more concerned about mini-bears (racoons, opossums, skunks, mice, voles, squirrels, etc.).  A Bear Vault would be a wonderful addition to my kit.

We are planning a second trip "out west" and we don't own a bear canister. We really needed one when we were backpacking last month in the Painted Desert. There definitely were NO trees to hang a bear bag from! Next trip, I need to have one! Winning one would definitely be superior to buying one!DSCN1002.JPG
